Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies are a Major League Baseball team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their most common nicknames include: The Phils, The Fightin' Phils or simply, The Phightin's. Although the Phillies are currently the only major league baseball franchise operating in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Athletics (now the Oakland Athletics) were once the club's crosstown rivals in the first half of the 20th century (1901-1954). Since the divisional realignment of 1969, the Phillies have played in the Eastern Division of the National League. They are the oldest continuous one-name, one-city franchise in all of American professional sports (although the team has used alternate nicknames throughout its history). The Phillies at one time held the record for the longest World Series championship drought in baseball history at 97 years (1883-1980). This unfortunate record was broken by the Chicago Cubs (1908-present) in 2005. Still, the Phillies have the mark as one of the most exciting franchises of any US major sports league. This club has had its fair share of talent, and currently claims 31 Hall of Famers. Full Article on Wikipedia

Former Dodger Park signs deal with Astros

The Babes from the Babes Love Baseball site let us know that old Dodger phenom Chan Ho Park has just signed a AAA deal with the Houston Astros. At 33 years old I guess they figure he must still have something in the tank.

Kuo Was Pimp'n It

Tonight was a great all around game for the Dodgers tonight. It was especially a great night for Hong-Chih Kuo. Not only did he pitch an outstanding seven innings, but he hit a long home run to rightfield that capped off three straight dingers by the Dodgers 7, 8 & 9 hitters.

100 Greatest Red Sox >> #33 Curt Schilling

I know it’s been a while (actually since the baseball season started) that we have updated our top 100 players in Red Sox history list.  Truth be told, we got off to a great start, but wrangling bloggers who were trying to write their own blogs and balance work and family lives made coordinating it overwhelmingly difficult.  But thanks to Cormac from “I didn’t know there was baseball in Ireland” we are getting back on it.  I don’t expect more than a post a week, but we’ll see.  Without further adi

Spurs in History - 28th May

28th May, 1952 Saskatchewan F.A. 1 Spurs 18 (eighteen!) (Friendly) The second game of the North American tour threw up this record score. Conflicting details of the scorers and half-time score exist but Spurs official handbook for 1952-53 states that as Spurs were 14-0 ahead at half-time, the teams exchanged goalkeepers and Ted Ditchburn’s display ensured that Spurs only scored four in the second half.
