Indian Cricket team for Australia series

Indian cricket selectors once again surprised cricket lovers with their odd selection criterion. Dashing opener, Virender Sehwag, who was not even in the 24 probables list selected for the final team for the crucial Australia series. Selectors may have selected Sehwag due to lack of options for opening slot. His past records may come in handy in selecting him. Gautam Gambhir sidelined due to shoulder injury.

Rajasthan fast bowler, Pankaj Singh, was selected due to fitness problems of Munaf Patel. Dinesh Karthik luckily regained his slot due to Captain Kumble’s faith on him. Ishant Sharma was selected based on his 5-wicket haul in Bangalore.

Irfan Pathan and Virender Sehwag had wonderful performances in the last Australia tour. India matched Steve Waugh’s Australia and narrowly failed to win the series. Indian middle order dominated Australia bowlers and Kumble gave lot of trouble to Aussies in that series. Missing of Sreesanth due to injury is a big blow to Indian chances who played crucial role in the South African tour.

We have to see can India show similar performance in the upcoming tour.
