Review: Castrol Indian cricket awards

Sourav Ganguly was selected as best Indian captain in 75 years of test cricket at the 10th Castrol awards in Kochi. But in my opinion, Pataudi is an outstanding captain when compared to Sourav Ganguly. Mohammad Azharuddin (most successful captain), Anil Kumble (most successful test bowler) found no mention at these awards! Had any other cricketer played so much crucial role as Kumble in Indian test wins in these 75 years.

Best Indian Cricketers of the six eras:

1. C.K. Naidu (1932-47).
2. Vinoo Mankad (1947-61).
3. M.A.K. Pataudi (1961-71).
4. Sunil Gavaskar (1971-1981).
5. Kapil Dev (1981-1997).
6. Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid (1997-2007).
Outstanding team: Twenty20 world cup winning team.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is conspicuous by his absence at this prestigious ceremony.

My view:
1. Best Batsman: Sunil Gavaskar.
2. Best Bowler: Anil Kumble.
3. Best Captain: Pataudi.
4. Best All-rounder: Vinoo Mankad/Kapil Dev.
5. Best Fielder: Solkar.
6. Best Team: 1971 test team.
7. Best Wicket keeper: Farookh Engineer.
