Selectors picked this team for the first three matches against Australia. All-Rounder Irfan Pathan and Spinner Harbhajan Singh returned to the team while Virender Sehwag, Ajit Agarkar, Munaf Patel and Rohit Sharma missed the team bus. Yuvraj will remain as vice-captain. Indian Cricket team for first 3-one day matches against Australia:
Captain: M S Dhoni.
Vice-captain: Yuvraj Singh.
Openers: Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa.
Middle order: Rahul Dravid, Dinesh Karthik.
All-rounder: Irfan Pathan.

Dhoni’s progress to the top rank is not surprising considering his uncontroversial nature coupled with sharp cricket brain and matured personality despite enormous popularity. It is rare to see such a level minded youngster among young cricketers. His middle class upbringing helped him in this aspect like Sachin Tendulkar.
