Review: Indian One-day team against Pakistan
Indian selectors announced 15-member squad for the first two one-day matches against Pakistan. Rahul Dravid and Dinesh Karthik were dropped from the squad while Virender Sehwag was recalled. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the Indian Captain for this crucial home series. India will play first two one-dayers with Pakistan at Guwahati and Mohali on November 5 and 8. Indian selectors gave due recognition for domestic performances by including Uttar Pradesh all-rounder Praveen Kumar but S. Badrinath lost his place to Gautam Gambhir. Praveen Kumar is in scintillating form in the challenger series but Badrinath, Suresh Raina and Manoj Tiwary missed the team boat due to lack of places despite superb performances in the challenger series.
I can’t understand why selectors used the term “Rest” when they actually dropped him. Are they trying to deceive whom? Even though most of the selectors wanted to drop Ganguly, Vengsarkar insisted on Dravid, according to Times Now channel.
Indian Cricket team:
Openers: Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir.
Middle-order: Yuvraj Singh (Vice Captain), Virender Sehwag, Robin Uthappa and Robin Sharma.
All-Rounders: Irfan Pathan and Praveen Kumar.
Fast bowlers: Zaheer Khan, R.P. Singh and S. Sreesanth.
Spinners: Harbhajan Singh and Murali Karthik.
